What we collect
When you browse CarCom we do not collect personally identifiable data unless you submit a callback, test-drive, contact, or newsletter form. In those cases we collect the name, phone, and (optionally) email you supplied, along with the vehicle or dealer you enquired about. We use this only to respond to your request.
Location data
The charging finder requests your location to show nearby stations. Location is processed in your browser only and is never transmitted to our servers or stored. You can decline location access at any time and search manually by city.
Cookies
We use functional cookies for authentication and theme preference (light/dark). We use first-party analytics cookies for aggregate usage stats. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not sell data.
How we use your data
Account data is used solely to authenticate you and deliver features you have requested (saved comparisons, favorites). We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in. We do not share account data with manufacturers or third parties.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, request deletion, or export your saved comparisons at any time. Email privacy@carcom.com from your registered address. We respond within 30 days as required by GDPR and CCPA.
Data security
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a per-user salt. All traffic is served over HTTPS. We perform regular security audits and disclose any breach affecting user data within 72 hours of discovery.
Children
CarCom is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has created an account, email privacy@carcom.com and we will remove it.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced via banner on the site and email to registered users. The "last updated" date below reflects the current version.
